Letter: Superintendent will now recommend cutting more than 1,000 positions

The Austin American Statesman reported that the Austin school administrators are planning to cut more than 771 campus based and 246 central office positions out of the current 12,000 workforce.

The administrators will get more precise detail in the meeting on Monday, February 14, on how the cutting will be made. Other districts across the state are planning to do something similar because of the public education cut by $10 billion in the next two years. Dallas school officials proposed cutting 4,000 positions and San Antonio voted to trim 125 positions. The school board voted to cut about 485 positions at the campus level and increased employee workloads for an estimated  saving of about $26.5 million.

I think the article is worth reading because of the cutting they are making to public education. So much people will lose their jobs and finding a job nowadays is hard enough already.
